Meet Kim Ormsby, Assistant Director at Anenta, a driving force in the organisation, and someone we were excited to sit down with to dig into the really important stuff — her favourite book, go-to film, top chocolate pick, and the little things that make her who she is!
1. How long have you been working for Anenta?
A. I’ve worked in the business for four and a half years.
2. What does a typical day at work look like for you?
A. My work is incredibly varied, so there’s really no such thing as a typical day! I may have meetings with Vendors and ICBs, visits to individual locations, Duty of Care Compliance site visits (at the Vendor disposal facilities), and of course there’s all the routine admin such as dealing with email enquiries, and attending internal meetings. Every day is different!
3. What attracted you to a career in healthcare waste management?
A. After completing my degree as a mature student, I secured a job in the NHS. Here, waste management was part of my responsibility alongside my main role. I found it fascinating! That interest grew, and eventually, it became my full-time focus.
4. What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learnt at Anenta so far?
A. Quite simply, it’s just how much impact our team can have. The amount of work that we do and the savings we deliver for the NHS is really very impressive.
5. How do you like to spend your time outside work?
A. I love being outdoors – whether I’m walking the dog or gardening. Aside from that I enjoy spinning classes and getting lost in a good book.
6. Describe yourself in three words.
A. Conscientious, hard-working, jolly.
7. Are you an early bird or night owl?
A. Definitely an early bird!
8. What ‘s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
A. Be true to yourself. It may seem a cliché, but it’s something I try to live by.
9. What’s your favourite thing on Netflix at the moment?
A. I don’t watch that much TV, but I really enjoyed The Night Manager.
10. What one piece of advice would you give to Anenta’s clients?
A. Always raise a ticket if you have a query. That way our team can look into the issue quickly and efficiently.
11. What’s your favourite book and why?
A. Anything by Thomas Hardy. I love the depth of his characters and his blend of realism and romanticism.
12. What’s your favourite film and why?
A. Pretty Woman. It’s a classic! I just love the characters that Richard Gere and Julia Roberts play. The humour and the total unlikeliness of this happening in real life really makes it!
13. What achievement are you most proud of?
A. My two children are hands down my greatest accomplishment.
14. What’s at the top of your bucket list?
A. Easy. Visiting South America.
15. Favourite sweet treat?
A. Terry’s Chocolate Orange – I have one for lunch everyday!
16. What’s your favourite animal?
A. Horses – they’re such graceful creatures.
