The UK Government is implementing new recycling legislation that requires businesses and organisations, including care homes, to separate food waste and dry recycling from residual waste by March 2025. This change aims to increase recycling rates and reduce environmental impact, supporting the Net Zero strategy by eliminating biodegradable waste sent to landfills. Care homes, along with other healthcare providers, will need to adapt their waste management practices to comply, ensuring food waste is processed into organic fertiliser and biogas, contributing to a more circular economy.
